Daisy and Patrick's Big Day!

The day was simply put: BLESSED. I can't think of a better definition for how the day went yesterday! That and "perfect" are the 2 words that best describe it!!! Saturday night I tossed and turned worrying about the food (even though I prayed that it would be enough, of COURSE, as always, I worried!) and then worried more about how it would all cook during the worship service (we had lasagna) and how Daisy would co-operate and even if Pat might oversleep!!! All those silly things bounced in my head!!! ONE of these days I'll learn to "let go and let God"! ....I got to the church really early---8:00!--and grabbed a cart and started loading the crates of decorations/extra food and pictures I wanted to display.  I got the long table decorated when Brad/Nat/Kemp and Miss Daisy arrived. Natalie had to practice her solo ,( and singing w/the band) and so Brad and I watched the kids. Well, I should say BRAD watched the kids. I cut tomatoes and cucumbers and buttered bread and got things going for lunch. Soon, Carolyn arrived to get the pans of lasagne in the ovens to start to bake. Katie ran in telling me there was NO ALTAR (I assign altar days) so she ran and got some items and Kadie and Leigh ended up doing that for us! WHEW!! Mary Margaret(and Frank!) arrived with her delicioius dessert at the same time Bobbie arrived with HER dessert! WHEW! Then Judy/Robbie and Joy/Mike came in. The sun shone a bit brighter when Patrick walked in, smelling so good and looking so nice! Natalie ran and fed Daisy, so she'd have a full tummy and dressed her in her beautiful Christening gown. She looked the part of the angel she is! All the kids arrived and soon it was time to start! BUT, NO LAURA!! She told me she was coming but the service was starting and she wasn't there. Natalie asked for Daisy to be baptized FIRST and it worked out perfectly! She SMILED when Jack picked her up and held her. It was PRECIOUS!!! He poured some of the River Jordan water out and used it as well (I got a bottle full when we went down to the River Jordan when we went to Israel 16 years ago!). She did GREAT! The cutest thing happened during the prayer! Natalie said Kemp asked his daddy, "Why are you sleeping???"  After the baptism, Natalie sang her song. It's called "Find Your Wings". It was incredible as I knew it would be. She talked a bit before she sang it and explained it was for Daisy as well as for her little brother who was leaving to go into the Navy. I was FINE until Bobbie reached in her purse for her kleenex!! After the song, Jack brought up the kneeler and had Patrick kneel and asked if anyone wanted to go up and pray for him. We did and , again, I was o.k. UNTIL I heard Patrick weeping. Of course, those of us near him cried too! It was a beautiful prayer for Pat and I know he was moved and felt God's great peace and comfort at that moment, like we all did. The rest of the service was good too and afterwards we headed into THE WELL for lunch!  GUESS WHO WAS STANDING THERE BY THE DOOR??? LAURA! God love her, she couldn' t find us (our church is so big and different now!) and was wandering EVERYWHERE looking for us! Funny side note: She sat in the HISPANIC service for awhile! HAHA! Anyway,we were soooo glad she was there b/c she started working for us when Patrick was about 8 months old so she has known him and loved him her whole life (and vice versa!). I've never been so glad to see anyone! And, not only Laura came but we had over 60 people come to eat with us as well!!!  Before eating Terry had a beautiful prayer  and blessing.THE FOOD WAS AWESOME! I was so worried about the lasagne and it was DELICIOUS !  AND WE HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH!!! Had plenty---even enough to send back with Jon to Auburn and for me for dinner(I was too keyed up to eat at lunch!) and even enough for me to give to Kemp and Lily when they come over today (they loved it yesterday). The desserts from Diane/Bobbie/Mary Margaret were delicious! OH MY GOSH! They were Great!  One thing I loved about the lunch was that PEOPLE STAYED ! No one rushed off---it was great just chatting and going around to see everyone and no one rushing out the door to leave. It was so nice and Patrick just kept hugging me after it was over saying, "thank you, mama". It was just perfect. Carolyn and Mark Barkley were awesome, cooked and had the kitchen clean before I could even help !!! of course, it took a village to TAKE DOWN all the tables/decorations/pack up left over food (not much of that!); etc. but it was done quickly with the help of our dear friends. Pat was lucky to have his 2 aunts there (Judy/Mary Margaret)and 2 uncles (Robbie and Donnie)and cousins/siblings and friends. (only sad thing, no grandparents. Mimi is the only remaining grandparent Pat has and she couldn't come b/c of her having a hard time sitting so long, etc)....Daisy was a PERFECT LITTLE ANGEL and did not MAKE A PEEP the whole time---even during lunch! She must have known it was her SPECIAL DAY! On the way home I couldn't help but cry a little and thank God, again, for a beautiful and blessed  day. I imagine that is just a taste of what heaven might be like one day!
