PINK PINK PINK!

Saturday we went over to see the baby's nursery and to just hang out and then watch the Alabama game (no comment on the gameS! Can't wait to hear what Charles/Rachel said about it, they were there)....anyway, despite losing the game, we had a ball. Natalie fixed us dinner and had some good ole cheese dip she had bubbling in the crock pot that reminded me of the old East Lake UMC Halloween carnival (Joy Dorriety???! Joy, I can see you know stirring that pot!). Yes, I told Natalie I hadn't had that nacho dip in years and it was great. Kemp played SO HARD that he fell asleep in Aunt Cutie's arms at 6:00 P.M.!.... Check out our fun day and Daisy's beautiful (and VERY PINK---like Aunt Cutie's---ROOM!!! ).Oh my goodness, I get all excited just thinking about holding another baby girl. She will have the PRETTIEST room in all of Birmingham! If you know NATALIE, and how GIRLY she is (the only "girlier girl " I know who is equal to her, is her sister!), then you KNOW that Daisy's room will be beautiful and different!

More pix to come as it gets closer to finish time as well as some of POWELL'S room, too! I think they are just in the "deciding what colors" part of their nursery at this time.........

Have a great SUNDAY ! (I know JON will, down in AUBURN! HAHAHA)

P.S. Check out Natalie's top!See if you can read what it says,  it's hilarious!

P.P.S. CHECK OUT HOW BRAD'S NEW HIP WORKS! A real MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!!! Praise God

Chuck E. Cheese !

Let's see, how many years since I have been to Chuck E. Cheese??????Hmmmmm, Pat's 8th b'day????? You know what has changed about the place???? ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING! HAHA...kids doing the same thing! Not wanting to eat their pizza b/c they want to play the games/ kids screaming!/the smell of kids dirty feet b/c they take off their shoes to play/total pandamonium! HAHAHA But, they loved it! Lily was so exhausted we had to tickle her to keep her awake on the ride home and she is, of course, still asleep here in GranJan/Big T's bed! Didn't move a muscle last night!.....Today I'm going over to help Natalie decorate the nursery if Brad got it finished last night! (he stayed home to paint!). Then we'll probably watch the Bama game there, too..

Oh NO! My son can't be that old!

OH NO! How can Charles be 35?! That makes ME Old!  haha! Remember, I was a baby myself when he was born!!!! ...... WOW, when I found this pix in some of Mimi's old picture I almost cried! Look at my baby boy! This adorable little fella is CHARLES, our oldest son! (have you ever seen such BIG EYES?!).YES, today is our firstborn son's b'day! (Yeah, yeah, I had 2 babies within a year, I know! Michael came 11 months and a few days later!).Look at that baby's pix! Isn't he adorable?! Terry Charles Fry, Jr. Wow, what can I say except that nothing prepared me for the love and overwhelming responsibility I felt the moment he arrived (hey, I had just turned 21!). I was euphoric, tho! OH MY GOODNESS, I was in heaven and loved having this baby so much I turned around and had another 11 months later! HAHA! Charles was 3 whole weeks early and NOBODY believed me when I went  to the hospital! Terry called my mom from the hall and I heard him say, "oh yes, Mrs Powell, the doctor said she if ready to have this baby!" 4 hours later our bouncing baby boy was born! I remember looking at him for the first time and counting those fingers and toes and just being in awe of him. I still am! He's amazing. Smart from the get-go, recognized alphabet letters at just over a year old! Having no others to compare him to, I thought all kids did that! HAHA! But one of my teacher friends FREAKED OUT about it and kept telling me how unusual that was. He continued to amaze me over the years with his understanding of things I had no clue about! He was, and still is, a  deep thinker. Some of my favorite things I will cherish forever are poems he has written over the years (I just might publish them one day and make some money! HAHA) and watching him study! Everyone who knows Charles knows he is the TALLEST one in the Fry Bunch and I can just see him now, stretched out, filling up the couch in Riverchase, STUDYING. ALWAYS ALWAYS Studying!!! Long legs stretched out and his brow furrowed as he was reading, and all the time the T.V. going/kids running around/phone ringing (remember, Charles was the oldest of 5 and he had younger siblings running around always!) and STILL he could concentrate!...Charles always loved school, and did so well. But it was his community service when he was even in high school that set him apart and set the motion for what he does today. He worked in East Lake United Methodist Soup Kitchen after school several days a week and his heart for helping the helpless was evident even then (Yes, I know what you are thinking, "LIKE HIS DADDY!" yes, Charles and Terry both are very MISSION MINDED!). He worked in the Inner City and was active  on the "Youth Leadership Forum"  in high school and continued projects that were similar when he was in college at Birmingham Southern in so many areas that served the poor and inner city. Of course, he and Michael both loved Camp Sumatanga and spent so many MANY days there! Camps/youth leadership stuff, etc. Today Charles is active with charities and fund raising at Children's Hospital and, of course, he is active in his church, Advent Episcopal, where he continues to lead a small group. Like all my kids he has lots of accomplishments but what I'm most proud about Charles is that , even in his stressful job, he relies on God to guide him and that his faith is an intergral part of his life. I know he will raise his son (who will be here in about 3 more months! HURRAH!),to put God first in his life as well....Today Charles and Rachel are in Savannah, Ga. and then on to Jacksonville to the Alabama game. I can't believe I won't see my baby on his b'day! Yes, he might be 35 and an attorney and blah blah blah ,but he is STILL my baby boy whom I love with all my heart and mind and soul and I still will miss not seeing him on his special day, SEPTEMBER 28th! ! (I ALWAYS tell Charles that we "grew up together"!haha). I am so glad, tho, that he and Rachel are getting to go for the week-end. I told him he better enjoy these little trips, soon they will be harder to go on when that baby boy arrives!!! HAHA ....

*HAPPY BIRTHDAY , CHARLES! I hope you have your laptop and can read this: I LOVE YOU! HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, to my sweet and precious first born son! I WISH I COULD SEE YOU TODAY BUT KNOW I AM THINKING ABOUT YOU ON THIS, YOUR SPECIAL DAY!  HAVE FUN TODAY! And, have a VERY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!(oh and yes, I'll be calling you in just a little while and will bug you off/on during the day! HAHA)

Artist at work!

Yes, I know everyone thought I had a tatoo artist come and paint Natalie's growing belly, but it was I, GranJan, who painted on the growing canvas! It was hard trying to draw, WITH A LIPSTICK LINER on a MOVING target! (yes, Daisy was moving). No wonder Natalie had Braxton Hicks ! I messed with the baby's sleeping! HAHA! Natalie is so funny, loves to show off her belly and has fun with being pregnant. No complaints from Nat OR Rachel, that's for sure! Both look so cute! I even dreamt last night I was pregnant too! HAHAHA YES, it was scary!

Lily Vanilly

I am still laughing what Lily told her Daddy, "Daddy you're on my NURSE" (she meant nerves! HAHA). Also she said, "move from my face!" (He was kissing her!) HAHAHAHA! She is soooooooo funny! Katie and I ran by the Mall yesterday with her and she wanted to go in PINK (the cute store for girls around Katie's age)! Anyway, then we went by WalMart, too. She's a good little shopper! Here she is at the mall and, later on, at home coloring with Maggie! (Maggie LOVES Kemp and Lily! She will let them hug her and she purrs so loud you can hear her in another room! She is 17 years old, too!

My new laptop/Terry packing!

I love my new RED laptop! It's soooooooo cool! Of course, I had to have a mouse, I can't use that scroll thingy, so I have a red mouse too! It's so nice to have it on the dining room table---when the little ones are here and they are playing, I can check my mail! (or play MaJong!).......Also a few shots of Terry packing for Jamaica! he is there now. It's so quiet around here! Just Katie and I. We're trying to decide what we want for din-din. We've "tee-voed" some T.V. shows so we can watch them later. Kinda like having a "girl's night out" for 5 nights! HAHA ! OH and also a few shots of our little "BRIDE TO BE!".........Please keep Scott Bishop, my niece Becky's husband in your prayers.  He had surgery for cancer yesterday and they had to do a temporary (we hope) colostomy. He is doing well but needs prayers so that his colon can heal and they can reverse that surgery in a few months! Praying no infection comes They have 4 small boys, too!..........

GOTTA ROLL, it's GIRL'S NIGHT OUT and we don't want to waste a second ! heehee

P.S. NO, Jon has NOT finished their wedding website yet! SOON we hope!

Michael Brandon Fry!

Today is Michael's 34th birthday! How can that be? Wasn't it just yesterday that beautiful black haired baby boy was born????? I can remember the moment I first saw him and how I burst into, well,  laughter! His eyes were WIDE OPEN and his hair was sticking out everywhere! The nurses were laughing saying that he had more hair than they'd ever seen on a newborn! He did! A head FULL of thick black silky hair! Gosh, he was gorgeous! Rosy red cheeks; the FRY eyebrows; that pretty little mouth. He was like a doll baby. I fell in love immediately, of course, with my 2nd son!  Now I must admit, I was hoping for a GIRL , before he was born,  but one look at Michael and all thoughts of pink  and prissy girls were gone.Just like when Charles was born, I felt so overwhelmed with love that I started crying! I couldn't believe that I had another perfect little baby! I felt as if I had known him my whole life the minute he was placed in my arms. How can that be? Yet, it's true. The minute those babies are placed in the mother's arms it's as if you have known that child for your whole life and that feeling of love and joy is unparalleled  to anything else. (I believe when I get to heaven, that the first thing I will get to do is re-live the moment I saw my babies for the first time!! What joy)! I remember holding Michael when he was so tiny and never wanting him to grow up! I wanted to just keep him like the little doll he was.  But I'm so glad he did grow up!Because that little beautiful baby was the start of a beautiful life! He was THE cutest little boy---so full of joy and life and some of my fondest memories are watching he and Charles fly down the street on bikes; playing soccer together on the front lawn and whispering together in the bedroom (while I stood outside in the hall listening). They were the cutest pair! So close in age--well for 9 days they are the same age!!!! I was blessed to have 2 precious boys together. If only I could go back in time for JUST ONE DAY!.......... From the day he was born, I knew THIS CHILD had stolen my heart. He  has it still.........

I love you, my sweet Michael! You have brought our family so much JOY and LAUGHTER over the years as well as steadfast calm (when needed) and strength and LOVE. As I watch you as a daddy now, my heart soars. How blessed Lily is to have YOU for her daddy! You make HER laugh just like the rest of us! How blessed we all are to have you in our lives! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terry is heading back to Jamaica!

I write you this email on the spur of the moment to inform you that I will be out of the country starting this Wednesday, Sept. 19 - Monday, Sept 24. If you need anything relating to business with Terry Fry, Inc. please call Michael Fry 942-4121 and he will be able to handle anything you need.

I will be traveling to Jamaica with a mission orginazation called Isaiahsixeight.
Isaiahsixeight is an organization I helped organize a few month ago as an outreach and missions organization to help those in need in the St. Thomas parish of Jamaica.  St. Thomas parish in an impoverished area on the very southeast coast and it suffered severe damage from Hurricane Dean a few weeks ago. There is great need there right now, so we decided in the last few days to go and put our resources to work.  Some of the people there live at an elevation of 18 inches and took a surge of water of about 10 feet. I can only imagine what we will not find when we get there. As with any organization that does outreach, funds are always needed. Those of us who go on these trips pay 100% of the travel out of our own pockets plus most of the money we spend to help those in need. If you could and you would like to make a donation to Isaiahsixeight the money will be put to help many needy people. I will be taking photographs and will share those with you upon my return. Please call me if you have any questions.

Final Trip Pix

Well, like all good things, the end must come! Our trip was so much fun and, sadly, we had to say good-bye to "Our Lady of the Snows" as well as to each other! Here are a few pix from the last days! I had a blast and was very happy when they invited me on their NEXT trip! I'm already packing my bags!

Trip itinerary continues........

On Saturday, Sept.8th, we had a great day! We started off by riding around the Shrine. Did I mention it's like DISNEY WORLD?! We had to RIDE THE BUS around it, it was so large! I had no idea it was that big! Inside the SHRINE GROUNDS there are sites that are dear to the heart of my Catholic brothers/sisters. Like, for example, a replica of the grotto in Lourdes, France where Bernadette saw Mary. Also Juan Diego site, built up with statues, etc (see pix for better understanding!). It was misting rain, but not enough to keep us from doing anything! In fact, it was a welcome relief from the hot weather we left behind. Anyway, we RODE the bus around to the sites. Yes, it is that big! Anyway, after lunch, we were on our own to go around and visit the many booths that were there outside. Again, it was misty rain at times, but didn't get in the way of visiting booths. Plus, many were inside. There was an outdoor stage where different groups danced/sang--from cultures all over the world. I found MY niche---a man was selling Russian icons! HOW ODD that our Bible study just finished a chapter on icons! SOOOO, I was in heaven and browsed around there so long I almost missed dinner (and, yes, I BOUGHT some!). After dinner, we went to the CASINO! WHAT FUN!!! It was SLAM PACKED and I only got to a slot machine to lose 40 bucks, but what they heck! HAHAHA!...OH, I think I forgot to mention we went to the world famous, ARCH! It is AMAZING! You can see if from everywhere! WOW, it was a...WONDERFUL TIME!

P. S. I put the pix in the "movie type" mode so you can see details of some of the , for example,  some of the many statues around the shrine and in the church (there on the grounds). The church there is A Contemp. Catholic church and was awesome! Notice the "Wall of Healing" where prayer requests (and praises) are posted! If you have the time (and I know putting them in this form is LONG, look through them when you have the time. You'll be blessed as I was!

Anheuser-Busch Brewery

When I heard we were going to tour Budweiser Plant, I thought it was just going to be a couple of buildings and see how beer was made! Well, I was right on the latter, but it was a LOT more than a couple of buildings, that's for sure! We took an EIGHT BLOCK WALKING TOUR of the brewery!!!!!!!! WOW! We walked in and it was culture shock! Beautiful! Lots of  memorabilia of course but also this HUGE gift shop. Our guide told us to look through the shop and then we'd buy on the way out. SMART IDEA since we walked so long! (yes, I did stop by at the end of the tour, I had already made my selections. It's a good thing Michael has a birthday next week< he got the most! HA!). Anyway, we got into this big group with our own "BUD GUIDE" and she walked us along. (you wouldn't believe all the groups and people there!). It was a "mini Disny world--A BEER world!" I loved going to the STABLES to see the Clysdale horses! Oh my gosh, they are GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome in there. Saw the wagon they pull, etc. Then on to all these buildings where we got a history tour and how they make beer, etc. At the end (around 2 1/2 hours later) we got to quench our thirst with 2 beers and some pretzels. It was sooo interesting and so much fun. Just wish Terry, Michael, Charles and Pat could've been along, too, since they all enjoy beer they would love seeing how it's made/processed! (don't ask me how  it's made, I heard and saw the slide shows,  but about all I remember is RICE/BARLEY/HOPS and YEAST!)

Cruising on the Mississippi River!

After leaving St. Joseph's Church, we headed for lunch. Only our lunch wasn't in a usual sit down place! We lunched while gliding on the Mississippi River! We loaded into the TOM SAWYER boat and headed downstairs for our lunch. After eating a yummy big HOT DOG , SOME of us ventured outside. I even ventured on the top deck! It was beautiful! AGAIN, Kim was praying, b/c NO RAIN AT ALL! In fact, the sun came out! What a joy to be sailing down the MISSISSIPPI RIVER and enjoying a Friday noontime lunch!

P.S. If you want to see a picture in a larger size ("St. Elizabeth's" group?!), just click on an individual picture and it enlarges it! If you want a certain picture, let Mary M. know and I'll be glad to copy one for you!

Loving being GranJan

I had to venture off my week-end trip for tonight! I went to Little Lambs Playschool and picked up Kemp early from school! He was eating lunch with his little friends when I walked in. I went over to his knee high table and crouched down beside him. His grin reached to the other side of the moon! "THIS IS MY GRANJAN, NOT yours!" he said to his friends! HAHAHA! He finished eating and  ran to tell his Mommy, "BYE BYE!" He was ready to roll! HAHA! ....Here is Nat's Office, along with Miss Traci and Miss Gaylyn, Nat's co-workers . What a wonderful place to work! Surrounded by children; Christians and having crosses and Bible Verses all over the place! Besides learning about his "ABC's" Kemp is also learning about God. From home AND from his school. AWESOME......

Shrine of St. Joseph

Click here: Shrine of St. Joseph - Catholic Church -St. Louis, Missouri

Here is the Shrine of St. Joseph church. It is unbelievable! One of the ladies said as we were entering, "I want to watch your face when you walk in!" I hope she did b/c she saw my jaw hit the floor! It was unbelievable! So gorgeous and MASSIVE! (personally, however, I prefer the older "Holy Family" church b/c it eludes warmth, but this church, you would never get bored looking around! HAHA). It is truly unreal! Like most things of this size, it's hard to get a picture to accurately show it's massive size. I would compare it to Washington Cathedral, I would guess. Or, if  you've never been there---Church of the Advent downtown, only BIGGER and more elaborate with statues, etc. Statues u p front (many!); on the sides; in the front. We ran out of time to snap pix (our church guide was chatty! HA), but even if I had made more pix I still wouldn't have been able to show the size (go to the website and maybe you can tell more about it by looking at it on their website and then  look thro my pix). I told Katie that the church guide told us they are already taking reservations for weddings for 2009!!!!!

DAY 2: FRYday Sept.7

We started off this day with breakfast at the Shrine Hotel. Then, at 7:30 A.M. sharp, we loaded on the bus with our great bus driver, Jeff and our tour guide, Walt! We headed to St. Louis for an all day city tour! First off, we went to Mass @ Holy Family Catholic Church. This church is AMAZING! It is over 300 years old, built from timbers from the area. The timbers actually date back to when Columbus discovered America! It was raining and it made it even more cozy in that beautiful old church with the old old windows and smelling the timbers of the church---a woodsy smell that just made you feel like you really were back 300 years! Man, if those walls could talk! The mass was nice/the sermon good---after a photo session we popped up the umbrellas and headed back to the bus. We stopped by the St. Clair County Courthouse for some pix, too! After that we headed to the beautiful Shrine of St. Joseph. It was unbelieveable. Comparable to Cathedrals in Europe I have seen! I can't begin to explain how gorgeous it was! After a guided tour there, we went to the Riverboat Lunch Cruise. It stopped raining (I'm sure Kim was praying for it to stop!) and the sun even came out! We had a box lunch and had a nice cruise down the river. After that we went to the Anheuser-Busch brewery. WOW! It was an 8 block walking tour! It was incredible!!!! By the time we got back, it was time for supper and we were ready to go to the CASINO! UNREAL! (too bad I lost forty bucks! HAHA). I am going to post pix of the Holy Family Church and the courthouse and then post one whole page tomorrow of the incredible church of St. Joseph. I have so many pix and want to put them all on. Also lots from the Brewery as well.....Check out this 300 year old church and think about how it smells when you bring your freshly cut Christmas tree in as you're looking thro them!

Day 1: we arrive in Belleville, Ill.!

We left the church around 8:30 A.M. last Thursday (Sept.6). We had soooooooo much fun on the bus---We had snacks and BINGO to keep us happy (and the best bus driver in the whole world)! We drove up thro Tennessee, Kentucky and finally Illinois. We arrived @ 5:30----raining most of the way (which it continued to do the entire trip). As we rounded the corner to "Our Lady of the Snows" there in the sky were the 3 rainbows! I almost freaked out! I jumped off the bus and started my picture taking frenzy that continued the next 4 days! We unloaded the bus and then headed for the dinner (at the resturant on the premises). Delish! I spotted the GIFT SHOP immediately! HAHA! An ANGEL carousel with angels spinning around DID catch my attention! We unpacked and had a good night's rest for the next day's adventures. Here are the FIRST day's pix............

Monday, September 10, 2007

Wow, what a trip!

First off, I had the MOST INCREDIBLE trip to Belleville, Ill. and St. Louis last week-end! I will be posting pix SOON. I am trying to sort the gazillions I made! (I can't load them NOW b/c I am on my BRAND NEW LAPTOP COMPUTER! WHOOPEE!)...anyway, back to the week-end---well, how can one adequately write about EXPERIENCE? Only the 20 people who were along with me can know (right, my new Catholic friends?!). Let me just say it was a GOD experience in many ways as well as a FUN week-end and lots of in between!!!! It was just awesome and I'll never forget one minute of it. We did so much and experienced so many things together! All I can say to try to explain it, is that when we drove up we saw, not ONE rainbow in the sky, not TWO rainbows, but THREE incredible rainbows that miraculously appeared at JUST THE EXACT moment that we drove up! (I haven't seen a rainbow like those since I was in Hawaii!). Yes, you might say, God was welcoming us for an incredible week-end! I KNOW you're dying to see PIX, (they are INCREDIBLE!) but I have to load those from my computer upstairs and I'm down here learning about my brand new DELL and listening to WONDER PETS as Lily is singing along with the show! HAHA.......MORE TO COME (I promise!).....To my new friends??? I love you and miss you all! Hugs! "THE METHODIST GIRL"! HA

P.S. I had the wrong link for the shrine below. SORRY! I was in such a hurry I didn't check my link! So, here's the right one. More pix to come. STILL going thro them! (the RIGHT link: Click here: National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows) Yes, I changed it below, too!

Powell's little foot!

CHECK OUT THAT ADORABLE LITTLE FOOT! That's my GRANDSON'S foot! Isn't it precious?!!!!! I can't wait to kiss those little toes!

Back to (PLAY)school!!!!!

The end of summer, officially, after Labor Day, means to some of my family: Back to "LITTLE LAMBS!" Playschool! LILY and KEMP are back in school (as is Natalie!). Here is her "picture gallery "to put on her desk at work!..... I get to get MISS LILY after school tday! I can't wait! I haven't seen her since last week and I miss my girly girl! Both Kemp and Lily met their teachers last week! They learn so much there, they love it!!! What a wonderful blessing Riverchase UMC offers to parents. A loving/learning/"faith filled" environment for children! It reminds me of the (MANY!) Christian  kindergartens my own children went to over the years and how going there increased their intelligence as well as introducing them to the Shepherd of the "little lambs"! I love the verses about Jesus holding the children as little lambs to His heart! What a wonderful Shepherd we serve!

Natalie is NESTING!

Natalie is Nesting! She has already had the urge to "clean out and put up" baby things! We, (Natalie, Katie and me) ,helped her a couple of weeks ago sort out Kemp's old things. Piles here and there! Some for Rachel to look through; some for TNT sale at Riverchase UMC; some to keep and some for Good Will! After sorting in boxes, etc. she is now ready to re-do the closet!  A few things she can use again , of course, towels and sheets and some blankets. BUT, she has quite a collection of Baby Girl stuff already! From Aunt Cutie; GranJan and even a few things from her first baby shower that were on the "girly"side! It was fun transferring her new baby girl clothes to the closet! Big T and Brad even came in for a look, too! Now that the sorting has been done, look out Brad and BIG T---she's READY TO PAINT THE NURSERY! (Pink , of course!)

Sunday,Funday!

We started off Sunday by, of course, going to SonDay Live, the Contemp. worship service at Riverchase United Methodist church. I made a couple of pix of the altar, (yes, I did the altar yesterday), and a few shots of the HORNS and the HORNES!!! Tom and Gina and their kids (Bryant and Camille) . Then, after taking down the altar after worship, we headed to WINGS for lunch. Kemp remembered that the PET SHOP and the AQUARIUM SHOP were nearby, so we went there, too!!!  Those PIGS were the cutest things I've ever seen! I picked one up and he SQUEALED , like a STUCK PIG, haha! I didn't know I wasn't supposed to pick up the little porker , I almost got in trouble! HA! Kemp loved looking at the animals and FISH! SO much so, In FACT< he cried when we left! We went home and then later on we went to Nat and Brad's for a shrimp dinner! Natalie is NESTING and I made some pix of her organizing and arranging both Kemp and Daisy's rooms! More pix on those tomorrow!  >........HAPPY LABOR DAY ! Especially to all the WOMEN who are LABORING  today, having babies! HAHAHA
